Hi, I'm Suzanne.
I have absolutely no idea how to write an "About Me" section, so let's start with the first thing most people notice when they meet me: I'm in a wheelchair. I've been navigating life from a sitting position since a gymnastics accident in 1996 left me paralyzed. If you'd like to learn more about that journey—and why I eventually turned to writing—be sure to check out my first blog post.
Now for the basics.
I live in Frisco, Texas, though Austin will always feel like home. I share my life with my husband, Johnny, and our three fur children: Lola and Larry, our dogs, and Buddy, our cat.
I don't have children, and I don't plan on having them. There are plenty of reasons for that decision, but just know it's intentional and I'm perfectly happy with it.
I love live music and have a slightly unhealthy obsession with the Dave Matthews Band. Okay, maybe more than slightly. I've seen them over 50 times and have traveled across multiple states—and even a few countries—in pursuit of my ultimate dream: meeting Dave Matthews.
My husband and I also love to travel. Traveling in a wheelchair comes with its share of challenges, frustrations, and occasional disasters, but it has also led to some incredible experiences. For example, I once got to ride in the Queen's private elevator at Holyrood Palace. Not many people can say that.
Over the past 30 years, I've collected a lifetime of stories. Some are funny. Some are heartbreaking. Some are frustrating. Many are inspiring. Through this blog, I hope to share those stories, connect with others, and maybe even make you laugh along the way.
Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to my world.
